Just shy of a smile

As usual, some of my favorite images from last year weren’t the big smiley shots, but the quieter ones, the ones that were  just shy of a smile.  I’m not sure why that is. Maybe that’s a person’s most natural, least self-conscious expression.  Or maybe it allows us to really pay attention to someone’s eyes, so we’re actually seeing a glimpse of what they are feeling on the inside.

Maternity Portrait Session with three sisters

Maternity sessions are always special, but this one took the cake….three sisters, all going through their first pregnancy together (one of them is having twins!).  I had photographed Vicky and Bryan’s beautiful wedding in Philadelphia 5 years ago. When Vicky told me she wanted this sisters’ maternity session, I was thrilled.  Not only are they all gorgeous, but they seem so incredibly connected, and it made for some great images.  We walked through Haddonfield for some fun ‘street scenes,’ and then to one of my favorite meadows for some gauzy, romantic shots.  Thanks so much to Vicky, Bryan, Maureen, Joe, Elissa and McShea for making this session so memorable.
