Xavier’s first birthday; family portrait session

We’ve been doing yearly sessions with Sabrina and Nick since their daughter Sienna was born.  (actually before….with her maternity session). Here’s our latest shoot, for their little guy, Xavier’s first birthday.  Sabrina brought along this terrific chalkboard, filled with Xavier’s favorite things!

Headshot session for senior recital posters

I’ve been approached before to shoot images for college senior recital posters, and so I know it’s a great opportunity to get creative.   My niece Giana wanted some images to promote her upcoming senior recital at Montclair State University.  Aside from being a highly trained and talented singer, Giana is a die-hard Harry Potter fan, and so her only request was to have a shot of her reading a Potter book while lying on the beach.  I also felt that, because she has amazing hair, we needed to play that up, and backlighting is a great way to do that.  Here is the series of posters we came up with for her.

100th Birthday Party. A life worth celebrating.

Of course I was thrilled when Barbara, a local landscape architect, came to me to shoot her mom’s 100th birthday celebration.  But when she began to share the incredible story of her mother’s life, and her experiences in Poland as a young woman, I realized how amazing this milestone truly was. As a young bride in Warsaw, Kazimiera was separated from her husband during the Nazi invasion. Having become a member of the underground Polish Resistance, she was taken to a Gestapo prison and then to a slave labor camp in Germany. She was finally reunited with her husband 7 years later when she arrived here in the U.S., but was never to see her parents again. She and her husband first settled in Haddonfield. They moved to Camden to be part of a then thriving Polish community in the Whitman Park neighborhood, where they raised Barbara and her brother Thomas. Barbara now resides in Camden with her mom,  where she cares for her. And all the while, as Barbara speaks of her mom, her words are woven through with such love and respect, and you get such a sense of how wonderful this woman was, and how much she has meant to her family. Kazimiera’s centennial started with a special benediction at Sacred Heart Church and continued at St. Joseph’s Polish Church with a mass and blessing..Her birthday party, at the Crowne Plaza in Cherry Hill, was a celebration filled with family and friends, Polish food and music, and great joy.

Beautiful… Absolutely beautiful. God bless your family. You are a wonderful daughter.

Now this is family.

Family doesn’t get much closer than this.  Four sisters, all raised in Haddon Township. Their parents, Al and Marge, still live in the town, and they’ve all raised their own kids here. Margie, Marie, Kathy and Ellen…you are part of a truly amazing family.  (and look how great the coral and blue works in these images – gorgeous!)

Wanna get paid to shoot some photos at the US Open? Heck, yes!

One of my terrific clients, Steven Goldsmith of Ameriprise Financial,  is an avid golfer, so having the US Open here at Lower Merion was a great thrill for him.  It was a thrill for me too, when he hired me to go along with him to shoot a day of practice rounds.  And even thru sporadic and at times torrential rain, we still grabbed some pretty cool shots. First one out at the tee we staked out was Tiger.  Wow!
